Independent Persons

 
 

The North of Tyne Combined Authority (which comprises Newcastle City Council, North Tyneside Council and Northumberland County Council) (“the Authority”) was established on 2 November 2018.

The Authority has a duty under the Localism Act 2011 to promote and maintain high standards of conduct for its members and co-opted members. It must appoint one or more Independent Persons to assist it to carry out its duties under the Act.  The Authority wants to appoint two Independent Persons.

About this position:

An annual allowance of £1,000 and expenses will be paid by the Authority. Appointments are for a two year period which may be renewed.

Please note that the position of Independent Person is not the same as the independent member to Chair the Authority’s Audit and Standards Committee which is currently being advertised separately.
